Worming

Young kittens often carry worms which can infect other cats and humans and are a particular threat to children. It is very important to worm your kitten on a regular basis, for the health of both you and your kitten. We recommend the following worming programme for both dogs and cats:

2 weeks to 6 months old:

At 2 weeks and 5 weeks old, then monthly using Fenbendazole (as a paste/granules or liquid) given daily for 3 days
6 months and over: 2-4 times per year with pyrantel and febantel/praziquantel or milbemycin and praziquantel (the frequency dependent on risk – those dogs that are in contact with children or where children have access, and those that hunt, require dosing every 3 months)
Pregnant bitches/queens: Should be wormed daily with pyrantel and febantel/praziquantel or milbemycin and praziquantel from day 40 of pregnancy until 2 days post-whelping/kittening.
